I'm Travis Smith, A full time student at Tallahassee Community College and a part time cook at Zaxbys (Chicken Hell). I'm interested in just about everything, and this blog is where everything I want to talk about ends up, because frankly, my girlfriend is tired of hearing about dropa stones and klein bottles. The human face and how it comes together in the womb.

Pretty interesting video I found here. Oddly enough, before babies get really cute, they are extremely ugly in the womb!

Meet Lily

Happy Easter! My Easter present to you is a picture of the cutest puppy in the world!
This is Lily, our 3 month-old poop-dispenser. We adopted her about eleven days ago from a shelter in Tallahassee. We think she's a Lab/German Shepard mix for the most part, but she probably has about 3,000 different breeds in her. More pictures to come tomorrow!

Future Sailor Smith

So I joined the Navy.
I leave for basic on November 8th, and after about a year of training I'll join the submarine fleet as a firing technician if all goes well.
Needless to say, I am very excited!
The only sad thing is I won't get so see my wonderful family, friends and girlfriend Cara for a while.
Not looking forward to that part fo-sho.
That's the gist of it, more details about the kind of submarines I hope to be on below the boring line.

--------WARNING! BORING CONTENT BELOW THIS LINE!------------

I went to MEPS last week, passed my physical and signed my life away.
I volunteered for Submarine duty, and signed a five year active duty contract for SECF (Submarine Electronics/Computer Field) Which is exactly what I wanted. At my A-School I'll get to pick what I specialize in, and I think it'll be Firing Technician (I'll be the guy that tells the missile or torpedo where to go in the event that we have to shoot one.) And if I get to pick, I want to be on "Boomers" or "SSBN's" or "Ohio Class" or "BIG-ASS submarines with BIG-ASS nukes on board."
These babies are 560 feet long! That's almost 2 football fields bro.
They can travel t speeds more that 20 knots underwater without making a sound, Crazy eh?
That's one of the reasons I wanted to join the submarine fleet, they have some of the most high-tech technology in the world on board that one day i'll get to work with.
The other reason is they have small crews, I think a total of 154 men make up the crew of a submarine.
The small crew makes for high morale, and everyone is like family on board.
Below are a few pictures of my future work place.
Not actual size.

If you look closely, you can see a few sailors at the top of the tower. Lucky.

Klein Bottles!

What do you get when you take two mobius loops, and glue their common edges together?
A Klein Bottle of course!
Cliff Stoll behind the meter tall Klein Bottle
It has no volume, and it's inside is it's outside!
Would you like to own one of these "impossible" shapes?
you can buy them here!

The name game!

I wanted this name to describe the blog in one or two words, and I think I accomplished that. I knew the name had to be something to do with the brain, because a lot of what I have to talk about will only be interesting to people who are either really smart, or people who read stuff on lots of sporadic topics like me. I don't think theres many people who listen to recordings of Alan Watts (British Philosopher), and Clifford Stoll (US Author and Astronomer) in the same sitting, but I know you guys are out there and this Blog is for you.

Back to the name game.
I started with the idea of the brain and my name...
TravBrain, TravysNoodle, BrainSmith
None of them were perfect.
Maybe something crazy that will get peoples attention!
Pomeranian Handjob!
No thanks, back to the brain.
I need something that would show up in a search engine like Google.
Big Brain... hmm.
Brain= head, cranium, dome
Then I thought back to the days of PB&J Otter, Thats right, NOODLE!
now a word for big...
It was shouting at me. I was using Google chrome, searching Google for a word for big to go in my Blog that was powered by Google. Googolnoodle was born
Googol!
10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!
